SUMMARY:Capital Area Spring Ring
DESCRIPTION:March 9\, 2024\nHighland United Methodist Church  |  Raleigh\, NC | 9 AM-5 PM\nThis festival features Level 1 and 2 music for intergenerational\, adult\, and youth choirs or individual ringers. The festival includes massed ringing sessions to polish the prepared music and two breakout classes led by members of The Raleigh Ringers. The day concludes with a short concert presented by the participants at 4:00 pm that is open to the public. \nGuest Conductor Laura Blauch\nLaura has been directing handbell choirs for 20 years\, including church choirs in Maryland and North Carolina and festivals in Virginia and North Carolina\, working with both children and adults. She is currently the director for Queen City Ringers\, an auditioned community ensemble in Charlotte\, North Carolina. Laura has a B.A. in Sacred Music and has studied conducting with William Payn through numerous HMA Masterclass Series\, attaining the highest level of HMA conducting certification in 2013. She was a finalist for the Distinctly Bronze Associate Conductor program in 2019 and conducted a solo piece at IHS in Nashville last year. In addition to directing\, Laura has been ringing for more than 25 years\, participating in both Distinctly Bronze and Virtuoso events. She has served as the Historian and Membership Chair for Area 3\, the Certification Program Coordinator for Handbell Musicians of America\, and is currently the Scholarship Coordinator for Area 3. DESCRIPTION:There’s no better way to ring in the holidays than by joining The Raleigh Ringers for their annual holiday concerts at the Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh. This Raleigh holiday tradition will feature the group’s unique interpretations of sacred\, secular\, and popular music\, including a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll. \nPerformances\nSaturday\, December 16 – 4pm\nSunday\, December 17 – 4pm \nTickets\nAdults – $26          Seniors (65+) and Military – $22         Groups of 10+ – $19          Students – $14 \nDue to a new policy between Martin Marietta Center\, the City of Raleigh\, and the North Carolina legislature\, Ticketmaster and the Martin Marietta Center box office are the only authorized ticket sellers for events at the Martin Marietta Center. \nFEES: Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster are subject to facility\, ticketing\, processing\, and/or delivery fees that will be added during the ticket purchase. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a full day of classes at Raleigh Ringer Central!\n \nBeginning Ringers Workshop– $20\n10:00am-12:00pm\n \nNew to handbells? Need a refresher? The beginning ringers workshop covers the basic ringing skills needed to get started in a handbell choir. Basic ringing\, martellato\, thumb damping\, plucking and malleting techniques are demonstrated and practiced. \nTreble Techniques – $10\n1:00-1:50pm \nLearn how to handle more than one bell in each hand. This class teaches the basics of Four-in-Hand and Shelly multiple bell techniques. All skill levels are welcome. \nStuck in the Middle – $10\n2:00-2:50pm \nThe middle bells or “battery”\, is a fun place to be! There can be a lot of action in the music of the middle bells\, and this class will give you some strategies and practice for handling what comes up. All skill levels are welcome. \nBass bells – $10\n3:00-3:50pm \nLearn the proper techniques to handle the big bells without injury\, and how to play them effectively.\nThis is your chance to ring The Raleigh Ringers’ “big buckets”! All skill levels are welcome. \nRegistration for each class is separate\, so you may choose the classes that best fit your needs.
